Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy S25 Ultra, delivering on the anticipation with thoughtful design updates and cutting-edge technology. The device's more ergonomic design, achieved by softening sharp edges, ensures a comfortable grip despite its large size.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is noticeably slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, measuring just 8.2mm thick (compared to the S24 Ultra's 8.6mm) and weighing 218g instead of 233g. Its frame still features titanium construction, reflecting in its color palette, and debuts the new Corning Gorilla Armor 2—a tougher, anti-reflective upgrade from ceramic glass.
Display
Protected by the improved glass, the 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display remains unchanged. It offers a 1-120Hz refresh rate, Vision Booster technology, and Adaptive Color Tone for optimal viewing in any light condition.
Performance and AI Integration
At its core, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, paired with 12GB of RAM. This new chip offers significant performance gains, with a 40% faster NPU, 37% faster CPU, and 30% faster GPU compared to its predecessor.
AI capabilities have also taken a leap forward. The enhanced NPU powers features like Gemini, which can be summoned by holding the side button, and "Circle to Search," enabling quick recognition of numbers, emails, and links. Multimodal AI interactions allow users to issue commands across text, speech, images, and videos—for example, asking Gemini to locate specific photos in the Gallery.
Additionally, the Galaxy S25 Ultra incorporates advanced privacy measures through its Personal Data Engine and Knox Vault, along with post-quantum cryptography to future-proof data security.
Software
The phone runs on Android 15 with Samsung’s One UI 7. Highlights include Now Brief, a proactive assistant providing personalized updates on stock news, weather, and events directly on the lock screen. Samsung has also committed to seven years of OS upgrades and security updates for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Camera Innovations
A notable addition to the Galaxy S25 Ultra's camera system is the new 50MP f/1.9 ultrawide lens. The rest of the setup includes a 200MP f/1.7 main sensor, a 50MP f/3.4 5x telephoto lens, and a 10MP f/2.4 3x zoom camera. For selfies, there’s a 12MP f/2.2 front-facing camera.
The upgraded AI ProVisual Engine enhances photo and video capture, while default 10-bit HDR video recording and the introduction of Galaxy Log mode offer expanded creative control. Expert RAW now features Virtual Aperture for depth-of-field adjustments, and the new Portrait Studio utilizes AI to create custom avatars.
Configurations and Pricing
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is available in four colors: Titanium Silverblue, Titanium Black, Titanium Whitesilver, and Titanium Gray. Storage configurations include 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, and 12GB/1TB. Pricing starts at €1,449/£1,249, with Samsung offering double storage (up to 512GB) as a pre-order bonus. Buyers will also receive six months of Gemini Advanced for free.
Samsung’s latest flagship promises to set a new benchmark for performance, design, and innovation in 2025.
